Welcome to the Wellington Municipal Croquet Club
Happening in the Winter
players meeting
The annual WMCC Players Meeting will be held at 12 noon (between the GC and draws)on Saturday 9 August. This is your opportunity to discuss with your Committee how you feel about the way things run and bring up ideas or suggestions for consideration. Put the date in your calendar now.
Lawn Care
It's very easy to damage lawns in this weather so extra care is needed. We've recently noticed a significant number of dents on one of our lawns due to members practising Jump Shots when lawns are soft. Please do not practise Jump Shots on the playing lawns. If you wish to practice just set up a spare hoop on the grass border at the edge of the lawn, outside the lines. There's good space on the east boundary and a bigger area on the south boundary of lawn 3. If you are a beginner please don’t try your first Jump Shots during a game in winter when damage is easily done. Our Lawns Team work hard to keep the lawns playable in all seasons and would greatly appreciate your help.
afternoon croquet
Remember that members are welcome to play croquet informally any Monday to Thursday afternoon in winter. With so many rainy mornings this season it's worth seizing the opportunity if the weather's fine. There'll be an updated contact list in the folder and on the board shortly so get in touch and organise your own game if you're missing croquet. We already have casual GC Friday afternoons.
The beginning of the winter season
As usual we rolled seamlessly into the winter season on Sunday 13th April. Start times for GC draws have now been changed to 10:00am, 11:00am and 12:00pm.
